HOUSTON - The Ninth Annual Touchdown Club of Houston Hildebrand Foundation Private School Awards are set to take place at the Omni Hotel in the Galleria on Wednesday night. HOUSTON – Ex-St. Thomas star pitcher Josh Wolf got drafted in the second round in 2019 by the New York Mets. “I woke up to a couple of missed calls,” laughs Wolf. Those missed calls came from New York Mets management, telling the right-handed pitcher he’d been traded to the Cleveland Indians for superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor and veteran pitcher Carlos Carrasco. Wolf was rated as one of the Mets’ top prospects and was part of a four-player return for the two Indians stars. MLB.com currently ranks Wolf as the #12 prospect in the Indians system and scouts like his projectability.

Concordia Lutheran is looking for a bounce-back season in 2020-21, while getting into the district title conversation with the likes of Beaumont Kelly, St. Thomas, the Village School and St. Johns XXIII. The Crusaders have the senior leadership to right the ship.

The private school world has been thrown for a loop with the COVID pandemic. Even more than the public school sector. The Southwest Preparatory Conference will not have a state-wide title as the North Division decided against playing. HOUSTON - The Elite 11 changed everything for Maddox Kopp. On Wednesday, Kopp narrowed his list to a Top 5 - Houston, Tulane, Wyoming, Colorado and Ole Miss. In the end, it was the St. Thomas quarterback who nailed the final throw to win the challenge, get the Golden Gun Jersey and propel his name up the Elite 11 rankings. The quarterbacks are set to hit the field again tonight at 6 p.m. for Day 2 of the Elite 11, with the camp wrapping up on Wednesday.
