"I decided to commit then because it gave me plenty of time to prepare and took off a lot of pressure, so I could just play," said Harwood. "I feel like ASU is a good fit for me because of the style they play and the coaching is very excellent." Harwood may have traded her Hill Country home for a college opportunity in West Texas, but it's still close enough for her family to watch her future athletic achievements. Before the move occurs, Harwood has another year as a Wimberley High School soccer, track and volleyball athlete.

After she completes her final high school volleyball season, she'll stay in the gym and remain competitive for basketball season. If you go back to her last complete campaign, her resume also includes a UIL 4A first-team all-state honor from the spring of 2019. Wimberley just made the cut as a UIL 4A school, so Jones is ready to take advantage of the opportunity. "I was very excited, especially thinking that I wouldn't get to have a season," Jones said of her first reaction to the news.

In a survey conducted by the Minnesota State High School League in 2007, it stated the average GPA of a high school athlete was 2.84, while a non-athlete was a 2.68. I am forever grateful for my high school coaches and would not be where I am at today without them. The list goes on and on when it comes to the impact of a high school coach and high school sports. High school is the sports Games, band concerts, choir concerts, theater Performances and all that go into your high school years.

On Tuesday, the UIL announced a new calendar for fall sports but it is split. Class 1A-4A will be allowed to start on time, while Class 5A and 6A will be pushed back a month into September. Practice for football and volleyball teams will begin August 3, while volleyball will start games August 10 and football on August 27, like it was originally scheduled. According to High School Football America there are 13 states that have adjusted the start of the 2020 football season.

Originally, the TAPPS calendar had practice for football, volleyball and fall soccer set for August 3; first volleyball games for August 10 and football for August 27. Those start dates are now off the table. During the week of September 21, TAPPS football programs can hold one scrimmage. Those dates have been shifted to November 2 (first day of practice), November 9 (first day of scrimmages) and November 12 (first day of games).
