Son and District Offensive MVP Reuben "Deuce" Fatheree II will come off the football team and onto the court. The 6-foot-8 Texas A&M football commit is talented in the paint. Jordan Faltine, whose brother is the slick-fielding shortstop at the University of Texas, adds some swagger in the backcourt.

Foster has become a perennial playoff team, making it five-straight years and advancing to the Regional Quarterfinals the past two seasons. Also coming back is first-team, all-district selection and ULL-signee Alicia Blanton, who averaged 11.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. As Klein and Friendswood remain constants, the rest of the volleyball landscape in Houston is a little bumpy. The Woodlands lost back-to-back matches last week to St. Agnes and Klein, allowing for Seven Lakes, Dawson and George Ranch to gain ground in the Top 5. Grand Oak moves back into the Class 6A Top 10. 1 but just lost to Episcopal. However, St. Agnes beat Episcopal during the same round-robin.

Look one way and there was the TAPPS 6A State Champion Village School Vikings. Look the other way there was the Class 6A State Runner-Up Cypress Creek Cougars. Then there was George Ranch, Langham Creek, Atascocita, Foster, Summer Creek, North Shore and the list goes on and on of quality teams and talent on display. "It's definitely good for the girls game," Cypress Creek senior Rori Harmon, a Texas-commit, said. In one of the final games of the evening, Cypress Creek played Village School, which pitted Harmon against Jada Malone, a Texas A&M-commit.

Offensively, Foster will have to replace a key playmaking leader in quarterback Ryan Stubblefield (East Carolina). The top returning rusher is senior Xavier Smallwood, who totaled 213 yards and 4.6 yards per carry. Other players to watch on offense are wide receivers DeAndre Chandler and Ethan Newton and offensive lineman Mason Moore.

But VYPE has still done what we have always done when it comes to previewing Texas high school football here in Houston. RB Jordon Vaughn (556 yards, 11 TDs) and RB De'monte' Seymour (426 yards, 7 TDs) have what it takes to pick up where Donovan Eaglin left off. Senior RB Charles Shelling takes over in the backfield, and the quarterback position is senior Jakolby Longino's for the taking. The core of the offense is senior QB Kellen Stewart, senior OL Luis Garcia, senior OL Eduardo Pineda and junior RB Michael Odom. Senior Jonathan Smith (599 yards, 9 TDs) is the man under center and senior RB Dontrey Betts (409 yards, 4 TDs) makes things happen in space.
