It was another busy week of Texas high school football here in Houston.

The COVID-19 Pandemic threw every high school program's 2020 season into disarray, but those in 20-6A were particularly affected.

The pre-district season is in full-swing and teams are starting to find themselves. 1 remains atop the polls, while a few teams have emerged into the Top 10 like Elkins, Clear Brook, Cypress Ranch and CE King. The Elkins Knights will battle for Fort Bend supremacy. Coach Albert Thomas enters his 16th season at Elkins and is only five years removed from a state final run. Gone is Donovan Williams to the University of Texas, but Thomas still has star-power throughout his lineup. District Offensive MVP Josh Fanuiel returns after averaging nearly 16 points per game, along with first-teamer Shane Bell. "It's all about team chemistry, team defense and offensive ball movement for us," Thomas said.

Tony Thompson starred as a WR for Texas A&M from 1984-89. His brother, Corey Thompson, graced the cover of VYPE's 2011 Football Preview. Since then, Corey starred at LB for LSU and played for the Buffalo Bills. Thompson holds offers from the likes of UIW and Northern Arizona, but has one school in his cross-hairs. Now that's an elite mindset.
