If you've followed Texas high school sports coverage over the past decade, you're probably familiar with eight-year journalism vet Brady Keane. But, he's made even more noise as a Texas high school coach since the start of the 2019-2020 school year. Keane kicked off the new stage of his life with multiple responsibilities at Winters High School for the 2019-2020 school year. "It's such a great feeling to be back," added Keane, a former Bandera basketball, football, baseball, soccer and track athlete. "One of the big things that I hope to bring to the Bandera basketball program is stability," said Keane.

Coach Burnis Simon (God Rest his soul) was my High School HC and he is the reason I want to be a high school coach and love what I do. In a survey conducted by the Minnesota State High School League in 2007, it stated the average GPA of a high school athlete was 2.84, while a non-athlete was a 2.68. I am forever grateful for my high school coaches and would not be where I am at today without them. The list goes on and on when it comes to the impact of a high school coach and high school sports. High school is the sports Games, band concerts, choir concerts, theater Performances and all that go into your high school years.

HOUSTON - The University Interscholastic League has announced a radical plan for the start of the 2020-2021 fall season. On Tuesday, the UIL announced a new calendar for fall sports but it is split. Class 1A-4A will be allowed to start on time, while Class 5A and 6A will be pushed back a month into September. Practice for football and volleyball teams will begin August 3, while volleyball will start games August 10 and football on August 27, like it was originally scheduled. According to High School Football America there are 13 states that have adjusted the start of the 2020 football season.

During a webinar on Friday, TAPPS announced that no scrimmages, games, contests or tournaments can be held between August 3 and September 7. Originally, the TAPPS calendar had practice for football, volleyball and fall soccer set for August 3; first volleyball games for August 10 and football for August 27. Those start dates are now off the table. During the week of September 21, TAPPS football programs can hold one scrimmage. Those dates have been shifted to November 2 (first day of practice), November 9 (first day of scrimmages) and November 12 (first day of games).

A few weeks ago, Sierra Beal from Lewisville High School won the VYPE DFW Girls Track Runner of the Year Fan Poll with more than 81,000 votes. VYPE caught up with Beal with a 411 to get to know the future PVAMU track star. VYPE: How long have you been running track and how did you get your start? Beal: "My favorite thing about track is that it's mostly an individual sport & I can focus on my race instead of worrying about relying on others." Beal: "I will never forget this past indoor track season whenever Coach Hobbs told me to run 7.7s in the 60m dash.
